Punch Away All That Rage!

Have you ever had one of those days where nothing seems to be going right, people around you are getting on your last nerve, and all you want to do is rage and put your fist through a wall. Well if you’re like me then you have had many of those days. But not to worry, I have the perfect way for you to unwind and take your stress levels back to normal.

Boxing is a fantastic way to stay in incredible shape; you can build stamina, tone muscle and burn double the calories in half the time you would spend on a treadmill. It also allows you to release any negative energy you’ve been carrying around with you.

Now when it comes to participating in this sport I HIGHLY suggest working with a professional, they ensure that you follow the proper form and technique and make sure that you get the best workout possible while avoiding injuries.

A proper stance allows you to throw harder punches and get a better workout. Remember to stand with your feet hip-width apart and knees slightly bent, stay light on your feet as you move around, and remember to NEVER lock your elbow when throwing a punch, this is a perfect way to get an injury.

Boxing sessions at my gym last half an hour, I know that may not seem long to you but when the average person burns 600-700 calories an hour running, I have burned over 1000 calories in half that time. You’re exhausted and you will hurt the next day, but when you’re leaving the gym your mood has changed drastically and everything that bothered you before has seemed to disappear.

  1. Good idea. Do you think that boxing on the Wii will do the same thing :)

  2. I went Thai kick boxing and boy was it a work out! You are completely right because working out is all about getting your mind and body healthy. I love this blog, it really makes me want to go and work out right now, unfortunately the only work out I wil be getting this week is in my fingers as they will be busy typing away assignments.

  3. Joanna, I went to Thai kickboxing in Thailand...now that was an experience!

Jamie I agree that some days we just need to fight the rage. What better way then to sweat it out...it's the emotional detox afterall.

  4. Boxing does sound like a lot of fun and I am totally that person who needs to release her rage by hitting or throwing something, so this may be perfect for me!
I know that when I work out I always feel way better about myself. I think that half the people out there who are seeing a psychiatrist should just go out and get a personal trainer instead. Once you feel good about yourself and how you look then other worries start to vanish too.

  5. Kick boxing is seriously one of the greatest workouts EVER! And yes of course it lets you release so much the rage that might be inside of you. I'm not sure if you've ever tried the St.Catharines boxing club but they have walk in sessions on mondays and thursday for an hour and a half and I am telling you, your life will be changed. I'd totally hit it up with you if you wanna go :)
